SHAKESPEARE IN THE PARK:
SHAKESPEARE is an SSPA program that is made up of students who will be entering their junior or senior year in high school. The twenty students presently in the program will be performing The Tragedy of Julius Caesar under the direction of Tom Dubinski in the Westford Academy Courtyard. The students will be giving a modern twist to this Elizabethan classic. Performance dates are Thursday, July 30th; Friday, July 31st; and Saturday, August 1st. All performances are at 7:30 pm. There is no admission fee for this event. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and come enjoy an evening of Shakespeare under the stars.
SSPA students will perform at the Westford Farmer’s Market on Tuesday, July 28th on the town common. Parents should plan to pick up their children at Westford Academy at 3:45 pm and bring them to the common. Students will perform starting at 4:15 pm for about an hour. Please consider supporting local vendors of the Farmer’s Market while you enjoy the SSPA performances.
Each week the students are given a variety of performance opportunities through their daily workshops. These performances come together in a show that takes place on Friday, July 24h and Friday, July 31st at 3:00 pm in the Westford Academy Performing Arts Center. We invite you to join us for these performances.
Every week students choose three different workshops during our activity blocks – a recreation, track, and elective workshop. We ask that you please check in with your child regarding which activities they have chosen and remind them to bring the appropriate footwear or change of clothes for said ventures.
SSPA provides pizza for lunch on Friday. Students should still bring an afternoon snack with them on Friday.
Wednesday, July 29th will be SSPA’s Tie-Dye Day! Bring a white article of clothing and your creativity!
